Last date for submission of paper: unknown; Contact person: University of Cambridge; Understanding Earthquakes Using the Geological Record will focus on the interplay between deformation, metamorphism, and rheology of the lithosphere. Modern geophysical research is revealing an increasingly complex and spatially variable fault zone behaviours. The properties and deformation of the ductile crust and mantle are controversial, as is their influence on the overlying faults. The meeting will unite international experts in geodesy, seismology, metamorphism and rheology to characterise and understand the geological controls on fault behaviour, guiding future studies and advancing our understanding of earthquake hazard.
