These technologies bank upon the discovery, synthesis/fabrication ofadvancedmaterials,theirthoroughcharacterizationtounderstandtheirpropertiesandpotentialforapplications.Therearenumerousclassesorgroupsofsuchadvancedfunctionalmaterials.However,withinthescopeofthisschool,wewouldliketofocuson2Dmaterials,oxidesemiconductors,perovskitesandorganicsemiconductors,whichareinprominenceduring the lastdecade or so.Wewill limitthediscussion tothe above materials atnano andatomicscalewhenthe propertieschange dramaticallyenabling avarietyof potentialapplications.ThisschoolwillbringPhDscholars(3rdyearonward),post-doctoralfellows,early-careerfacultymembers,andexpertresearchersfromalloverthecountryonasingleplatform,whichwillhelptofurtherenhancethequalityoftheresearchactivitiesandthefuturetechnologiesemanatingfromourcountry.
